Easter Sunday

Today is Easter. It's also the first day I've actually missed being in California.

I've never not celebrated Easter so I'm not really sure what to do with myself today.

Anyways -

Marshel just finished his first week of working at his new job! He even worked OT (even though it doesn't count at OT) I'm so very proud of him. :-)

We both absolutely love it here at our new home! Only issues have been with the leasing office... turns out we're living here illegally! OoOoOoh lol

Yuriy turned 19 months old on Friday and taught himself how to work the child safety latch on the cabinet. That boy is so smart! Definitely keeps everyone on their toes. :-)

I'm still looking for work, unfortunately... but I've been maintaining the apartment as best I can to keep myself from getting cabin fever. It's working. :-)

Yesterday Marshel, Robert, and I went to Riley's gun shop to look around. It was a sight to see let me tell you! You could pick up a gun off of a rack just like you'd pick a shirt off of a rack at target! Awesome!

We saw our first snow/slush too which was really neat.

Well, I think that's about it for updates in the life of Us right now.

I'll be sure to blog more often too.

First day at our new home

We woke up after everyone had already left for work so it's been very quiet. (except that the upstairs neighbors seem to be rebuilding the entire apartment lol)

The rain has not stopped so it has been quite the task to unload the car. So far we've got all of the clothes and bags out but that's about it. Oh, and I learned how NOT to open an umbrella lol...

Right now we are just relaxing and unwinding from the trip.

Surprise!

Our Garmin took us a different route than expected - which is a little disappointing since we were looking forward to passing though Scranton, PA.

But anyway...

Just passed through Pennsylvania to New York :-)

Stretch!

Just stopped about 40 miles outside if Erie, Pennsylvania for gas and a much needed coffee and muffin break. :-)

Soft water is the worse thing ever!!

We stopped at a Hampton Inn in Dayton, Ohio for the night but we were too exhausted to blog.

The time difference is now 3 hours and we haven't quite adjusted yet.

Yesterday we drove from Oklahoma City, O.K. to Dayton, O.H. - that's 3 1/2 states!!

The remainder of Oklahoma was the same as the rest of it, just fields. Missouri was more entertaining as every other billboard we saw was an ad for either Adult Superstores! or Fireworks. Turns out there isn't a whole lot to do in Missouri aside from farm, watch porn and blow things up.

The Arc in St. Louis was pretty exciting to see as we crossed the Mississippi River to get into Illinois. After a few hours of being on the road we crossed into Indiana and decided that since Indianapolis sits pretty much in the middle of the state and it would only take a few hours to get there we might as well push through to Ohio.

Lots of roadkill along the way, mostly deer.

It's very green up here and instead of farmland we are now flanked by trees along the road, which is much nicer to look at and we still get a kick out of not being surrounded by mountains.

According to my GPS we're about 865 miles away from our new home.

Almost there!

Just crossed into Indiana! Gonna try and push through to Ohio tonight.

Oooooklahoma where the wind goes something something something...

So we are on the road again and it seems the time change is starting to get to us.

Just merged onto the Kilpatrick turnpike and managed to miss paying a toll.

The weather is absolutely gorgeous!

Four and a half states down... seven and a half more to go!!

Just stopped in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for the night!! We are both so tired but still so very excited. We decided to stay at a Holiday Inn. It's not as nice as the suite we scored on last night but it's still pretty cozy.

Things we've seen/done today (not necessarily in order) :

- Saw a giant Pistachio... we were so shocked so no picture

- passed through several ghost towns.

- went to Roswell for lunch at Sonic (not as much alien stuff as expected)

- Saw quite a bit of roadkill today ... most was unidentifiable.

- Either the birds in Texas are suicidal or they're all playing a game of chicken with the cars... O_o

- Passed by Elk City where my Mom was born. (Didn't stop because we were sleepy and wanted to press forward)

We are through all of the big states!!! Weather should be comfortable minus the occasional wind storm and such.

Goodnight!

Lunch

We've stopped to eat at a Sonic in Roswell, New Mexico.

Is it silly of me to want to see "alien guts" on the menu?

Goodbye sweet suite

After much needed rest, and a delicious complimentary breakfast, we are on the road again... Albuquerque bound!

We've landed in Las Cruces, New Mexico at last

Haven't been able to update the blog as often as I would've liked to due to the Blogger App for Android not working.

So, due to the I-40 being snowed in and essentially unaccessible, we had to alter our route to get around that part by way of the I-10. We just finished that leg of the trip and found ourselves a cheap-ish suite at the Hampton Inn here in Las Cruces, NM.

So far today we've seen a bunch of rainbows, including the illusive Double Rainbow and we even went under a full one. We saw cacti and desert. Toward the end we even caught a glimpse of a shooting star. Oddly, no roadkill.

So far we're on schedule for getting to New Hampshire. We're through two states (California and Arizona) and half-way through another (New Mexico). We'll probably spend more time in New Mexico due to our climb North to get onto the I-40. Once we hit the I-40 we'll be back on the route that Robert and Diana took before us.

First stop for gas and food

We've just stopped in Blythe and can't wait to leave.

I honestly don't know how people could possibly want to live here...

And we're off!

Good nights rest? check. Delicious breakfast? check. Did Samson take everyone's spot at least once? Check. Unpack and repack the entire car last minute? Double check.
We didn't leave quite as early as planned but that's alright... all of the hugs and kisses were worth it. :-)

Last night in California...

The car is packed. Our bellies are full of meatloaf and potatoes. We are all tucked in at Nannie's... but I can't sleep. I'm too excited!

This is going to be great...

Testing, testing 1 2 3

Here we sit, eating lunch in the mostly empty apartment. We have come to the realization that we have a lot more stuff than we thought we would...

I'm not quite sure how we'll fit everything in the car.... but thankfully we both like puzzles so I'm confident that all will work out nicely.
